Tobias Schwab

Undergraduate: Stanford College
Planned Major: Aeronautics & Astronautics
Recommended Book: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – Douglas Adams

This fall, Tobias Schwab will begin studying Aeronautics and Astronautics at Stanford University’s School of Engineering.

At Lincoln, Tobias noted that Mr. Bliss, Lincoln’s IB Coordinator, was an important influence during his high school years, stating: “He’s witty, kind, and is amazing at guiding each student individually despite the hundreds in the IB program. Observing his impact on students inspires me to consider a career teaching later in life.”

His favorite extracurricular was the We The People Constitution Team. Tobias shared: “Our unit of five worked closely together for over a year studying cases, legislation, and the US Constitution itself. Moving through regionals and state, we ultimately landed in DC. Naturally, the team grew very close. To this day, a large portion of my friends are those I met during Con Team.”

When reflecting on accomplishments, Tobias said: “I feel that my most meaningful accomplishment is how I have combined my academic goals and interests with my social life.” He described hosting a last-minute attempt at the M3 Math Modeling Challenge at his house: “We knew we would be vastly unprepared compared to the Andovers and Exeters, who prepare for months. And yet, despite little time, the first people I asked (a select group that would never find themselves in the same room because of friend group differences) all said they would love to do it.” The team spent 14 hours straight working on a 30-page paper. “Ultimately, as expected, we did not win. Nonetheless, each member told me, even months afterward, that it was an experience like no other.”

Congratulations, Tobias! We’re eager to see what you accomplish!
